What is a SmokeStik?

A SmokeStik is a revolutionary device that resembles a traditional cigarette and recreates the pleasures of smoking, including simulated "smoke" , without the tobacco, tar, and many of the chemicals that are found in a traditional cigarette. How Does a SmokeStik Work?

The mouthpiece contains a replaceable cartomizer filled with liquid. The main substances contained in the liquid are  propylene glycol, glycerine, optional food grade flavors and nicotine, if you choose.

When you take a drag on the SmokeStik, the air flow is detected by a tiny sensor. A microprocessor then activates the atomizer which injects tiny droplets of the liquid into the flowing air and vaporizes it. This produces a vapor mist which you inhale if you choose to.  A SmokeStik is a battery operated device that resembles a traditional cigarette and recreates the pleasures of smoking,including simulated "smoke", without the tocacco,tar and many of the chemicals that are found in a traditional cigarette. An orange LED at the tip of the device is also activated to simulate the burning end of a lit cigarette.

A high-density Lithium Ion battery powers the device and will last all day on a normal charge. Your starter kit will include two batteries so that you may use one while your second battery is recharging.

We find that most people like the cartomizer system over the older cartridge system…although it is a bit more expensive at the outset..You do get much more vapor and many more “puffs” from the new system.

A cartomizer is a combination of an atomizer and a cartridge. It works in the same manner as atomizers except they are disposable units which are not meant to be refilled (although some users do manage to refill them). We don't recommend refilling them because the heating element is disposable and long term use may result in burning of the wick as well as damage to the battery.  A cartomizer offers several advantages over an atomizer: Firstly, a cartomizer is easier to use (you just simply screw the cartomizer onto the battery and your SmokeStik is ready for use). Secondly, cartomizers last longer than prefilled cartridges in terms of puff count. Also, you get a lot more vapor and do not need to inhale as strongly if you choose to inhale.

How is a SmokeStik different if it still contains nicotine?

Nicotine is a drug like caffeine. Like caffeine, it has its addictive properties and its own set of side effects. However, the more dangerous part of smoking is related to the burning of a cigarette.

There are more than 4,000 chemicals generally found in tobacco smoke. More than 50 of these are known to cause cancer. Most of the chemicals including carbon monoxide, benzene, formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide are formed when tobacco burns. The complete list of chemicals added to your cigarettes is too long to list here. To name a few: Ammonia, Arsenic, Benzene, Butane, Carbon monoxide, Cadmium, Cyanide DDT, Lead, Formaldehyde, Naphthalene...the list goes on! As a cigarette is smoked, the amount of tar inhaled into the lungs increases, and the last puff contains more than twice as much tar as the first puff. Carbon monoxide makes it harder for red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body. Tar is a mixture of substances that together form a sticky mass in the lungs. Most of the chemicals inhaled in cigarette smoke stay in the lungs. The more you inhale, the better it feels and the greater the damage to your lungs.

Electronic cigarettes DO NOT burn. They do not contain tar . Further, they contain only water, propylene glycol, glycerine, nicotine (if chosen by you), and optional food grade flavors.

Are SmokeStiks approved by the FDA?

SmokeStiks don't contain tobacco products of any form.  SmokeStiks are not a smoking cessation device - they are a simulated form of smoking without the carcinogens found in tobacco, and without secondhand smoke.

Is a SmokeStik really like my cigarette in terms of taste and smell?

Answer
SmokeStiks simulate the pleasures of traditional cigarettes, with a similair taste, but you definitely won't have the tobacco smoke smell!  SmokeStiks don't produce any odor at all, unlike tobacco smoke which can stick to your clothing and furniture. Also, with the SmokeStik, you may smoke indoors or in the presence of others since there is no offensive odor or second hand smoke.

Can I save money by switching to a SmokeStik?

That depends solely on your usage patterns. Some users will go through 1 or less cartomizers a day, while others will go more.  One cartomizer is roughly equivalent to approximately 200 puffs.  One Cartomizer may last as long as 20 traditional cigarettes.

How often do I need to recharge the battery, and how long does it take to do?

Typically it takes about 3 to 4 hours to fully recharge the battery. Keep in mind, your SmokeStik package includes 2 batteries so that you can recharge one while the other is in use. The frequency of recharging your battery will depend on how often you inhale.

What is propylene glycol and is it safe?

Propylene glycol is an organic compound that is both colorless and odorless. It has been rated as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the FDA for use in food, cosmetics, and medicines. It is absorbed and metabolized by your body.

How do the ingredients in a SmokeStik compare to a traditional tobacco cigarette?
